Board Job Descriptions
Board of Directors:

President:

Represents the entire membership and the best interests of the organization. Exercises personal leadership in motivating other officers, board members, committee members, and membership. Influences the establishment of goals and objectives for the organization during term of office. Acts as spokesperson and inspirational leader and takes an important part in monitoring and evaluating organizational performance and effectiveness.
Term:
One year term, three year commitment (having served as President-Elect, and subsequently serving as Past-President). Presides over four board meetings during one-year term.

 
President-Elect:
Assumes the duties of the President in the absence or unavailability of the President. Prepares for assuming the  duties of the President on the expiration of his/her term.
Attends all chapter board meetings as a voting member of the board.
Term:
One year term, three year commitment (as Pres-Elect, President, and Past-President).
 
Past-President:
Advises and assists the President in performing his/her duties.
Attends all chapter board meetings as a voting member of the board.
Term:
One year.

Secretary:

Maintains written records of the association; to include proceedings of all Board of Directors' meetings, Executive Committee meetings (as called), membership business meetings and conference calls. A
ttends all board meetings as a voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.  
 
Treasurer:
The treasurer manages and accounts for the funds, assets and securities of the chapter as directed by the Board of Directors. A
ttends all board meetings as a voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.
 
Member at Large (2, with alternating terms):
Represents the needs, viewpoints and issues of the general membership of UMCSUNA. Acts as a liaison between members and the Board of Directors.
Attends all board meetings as a voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.

Other Positions:

Newsletter Editor:
Complies a newsletter with organizational news, educational offerings, member acknowledgement and other news affecting the urologic community.
Attends all board meetings as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.

Industry Liaison (2, with alternating terms):
Represents the issues, challenges and needs of industry to the BOD.
Attends all board meetings as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years, renewable up to 3 terms.

Chapter Historian:
Compiles records of social events, awards, milestones, and pertinent materials relative to chapter activities, and preserve in a permanent file.
Attends all board meetings as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: This is a voluntary position and appointed for an indefinite period by the President.

Registrar:
Keeps accurate records of the membership and attendance/registration for the conferences. The position of Registrar is a board appointed position responsible for maintaining the UMCSUNA member data base.
Attends all board meetings as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.

Website Editor:
Maintains the chapter website containing organizational news, educational offerings, member acknowledgement and other news affecting the urologic community.
Attends all board meetings as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.


Committee Positions:

Membership/Nominating Committee Chairperson:
Chairs the standing committee that monitors annual elections, promotes SUNA membership and retention.
Attends board meetings as requested as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.

Membership/Nominating Committee Member:
Promotes leadership potential among the membership and to identify and recruit qualified UMCSUNA members for elected leadership positions at the local level.
Reports to the Membership Committee Chair.
Term: Two years.

Certification Committee Chairperson:
Chairs the standing committee that maintains communication between CBUNA and UMCSUNA.
Promotes the growth and development of the members of UMCSUNA through certification. Attends board meetings as requested as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Two years.

Certification Committee Member:
Assists in facilitating communication between CBUNA and UMCSUNA. P
romotes the growth and development of the members of UMCSUNA through certification. Reports to the Certification Committee Chair.
Term: Two years.

Education/Program Committee Chairperson:
Chairs the standing committee that plans and implements educational programs sponsored by UMCSUNA.
Selects and advises a moderator for each seminar. Attends board meetings as requested as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Three years.

Education/Program Committee Member:
Assists in planning the educational programs sponsored by UMCSUNA.
Reports to the Education/Program Committee Chair.
Term: Two years.

Exhibit Committee Chairperson:
Chairs the committee that plans and implements exhibits during the educational programs sponsored by UMCSUNA.
Maintains a current list of company representatives and company product managers. Attends board meetings as requested as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Three years.

Policies/By-Laws Committee Chairperson:
Chairs the ad hoc committee that reviews and revises the policies and by-laws pertaining to UMCSUNA every other year (odd)
. Attends board meetings as requested as a non-voting member of the board.
Term: Ad Hoc.

Policies/By-Laws Committee Member:
Reviews and revises the policies and by-laws pertaining to UMCSUNA every other year (odd)
. Reports to the Policies/By-Laws Committee Chair.
Term: Ad Hoc
